The Bee Gees.
This was one of the first songs I worked on with The Bee Gees back in 1988. Imagine how nervous I was, pitching up at Mayfair Studios in London to be confronted by the band (for whom I’d written the charts) comprising Nathan East on bass, Steve Ferrone on drums and Tim Cansfield on guitar! Apart from Tim, I had never met them nor The Bee Gees themselves!! By midday we were cutting tracks as if we had been The Bee Gees band for years. After the London sessions, I went to Miami to continue working on the album at their own studio Middle Ear with Brian Tench. I have many fond memories of my time spent with Barry, Maurice and Robin. The single ‘One’ was their first US top ten in over a decade and the middle eight is typical of my style at the time (just after my Go West years). Synth brass-a-mungus!!
